Software engineer, game developer
My name is Nicolas and I live in Brussels in Belgium. Since I was a child, I'm a passionate of video games, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies and series. I've grown up in a house full of artists. My mother is a teacher in an artistic school and my father is a creator of comic books and a director of animated films.
I'm a student game developer and I'm getting a degree at the Digital Arts and Entertainment in Kortrijk in Belgium. Since one of my passion is video games, I always wanted to create my own games or to participate to create one with a team. I would like to bring some joy to people with a game in which I got involved.
Before my studies in DAE, I completed a bachelor degree in business IT in the HE2B-ESI, which teaches computer science. Here, I learned how to develop software on computer, mobile and web. I also learn during an internship at Mediagenix how to work on a big project by using the methodology agile.
I've learned C++ since 2019 and my knowledge grows further since I'm at DAE. I've learned to use multiple libraries.
Html, Css and Javascript is the trio that I loved the most during my previous studies. I really enjoy coding with those.
Java is the first language I learned when I was in HE2B-ESI. During my school year, I used it for multiple projects using SpringBoot or JavaFX and SceneBuilder.
My knowledge about C# is not as high as the others but I worked a lot using Unity and there is a lot of similarities with Java that makes it easy to understand and to use.
Unity is the engine where I can create small projects really quickly and experiment some ideas.
Unreal is the engine I have the most knowledge of. It is difficult to start a project from scratch than Unity. The things that you can do with Unreal is... unreal. Most of my projects run under this engine.
Software used for version control of projects. I used it for most of my projects.
Perforce is a software used for version control of video game project. I used it during one of my group project at school.
Software for modeling 3D objects, animate and apply textures. I used it for multiple artistic projects.
Same as Maya but Open source and free. I first learned 3D modeling by myself using blender.
